Martin Burge joins Farncombe Estate as culinary director

Martin Burge has been appointed culinary director at Farncombe Estate in the Cotswolds.

It follows the chef’s departure from Whatley Manor in 2016 after a 13-year tenure which saw him hold two Michelin Stars for nine years.

Burge will now oversee the food offering at the three hotels and five restaurants at Farncombe's 400-acre estate, attempting to ‘strengthen its position on the global stage’.

“In Farncombe I believe I have found a company that is the perfect match to my values and aspirations,” says Burge.

“It is hugely exciting to be part of the next chapter and together with the team see the estate reach its full culinary potential.”

The chef’s 27-year career has seen him cook at Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons and L’Ortolan and The Landmark Hotel under John Burton Race.

“With the knowledge and enthusiasm Martin will bring to this new role, we will further establish our own foodie identity and our enviable reputation will continue to grow,” says Andrew Grahame, CEO of Farncombe Estate.

“I am excited about the future and about this, the next stage of the Farncombe story.”

Burge will begin his role on 2 May.
