Curveball gourmet meatball restaurant rolls in to London

Curveball London meatball restaurant to open in Balham

While the likes of Le Bab and BabaBoom have given the kebab a gourmet makeover in London, a new restaurant is offering a twist on the humble meatball.

Curveball is the brainchild of food blogger Hannah Pemberton and Paul Harris, former chief financial officer at London’s Liberty department store.

The duo are aiming to highlight flavours from around the world in ball-shaped form when the restaurant launches in Balham later this month.

Dishes will include beef chuck and parmesan meatballs in a short-rib ragu; beetroot and tahini ‘vegballs’ with lime avocado crema and pomegranate; and crispy bitesize balls of potato rosti.

There will also be balls of doughnut filled with coconut mango, salted caramel or Nutella for dessert.

"Meatballs are eaten the world over - from Middle Eastern koftas to Indonesian bakso,” says Pemberton.

“Paul and I wanted to create a restaurant that highlighted their versatility and not stick to traditional flavours.”

The duo will get the ball rolling when the restaurant launches on 26 April with a 26-cover dining space and 12-cover bar serving wines and cocktails.

Curveball joins a growing number of gourmet meatball restaurants in London, including Balls & Company in Soho and Tooting’s Belpassi Bros.
