Gallery: KFC unveils new restaurant design
The newly renovated restaurant features exposed ceilings, textured brick-effect walls and butchers block and timber plank kitchen tables, with low-hanging copper lights and loose furniture. Black, grey and white dominate, with KFC's signature red used sparingly as an accent on furniture, lighting and graphics.
The walls are adorned with photographs and illustrations from commissioned artists, reflecting the ingredients used to prepare its food.
KFC has also redesigned the restaurant kitchen and claims the new layout will speed up service, with a semi open-plan kitchen enabling diners to see their food as it is prepared.
The new design was created by R&R and KFC’s newly appointed in-house creative manager Jade Swaby.
“KFC was designed with sharing in mind and the new design in Bracknell was inspired by families and friends coming together around the kitchen table to share freshly made food,” said Swaby.
“We wanted the design to reflect the fact that, unlike many ‘fast food’ restaurants, at KFC cooks prepare and make fresh food, from scratch, every day – so the sense of the kitchen being the heart of the home really influenced the authentic, inviting design.
“You can feel the openness and warmth from the moment you step through the door and we hope that customers feel at home in the new restaurant.”
Two further KFC stores in Exeter and Reading are currently being renovated to the same design, and the brand hopes to roll out the new design nationwide from March 2015.
